Guess what I did for my 21st b-day.

Give up?

I saw the musical Wicked at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco on Friday. My parents surprised me the day before, telling me they bought tickets. This was after the fact that I just found out that SJSU students and staff get a $30 discount 'till some time late in October. Too bad, so sad. Oh well.

Because of our budget, my parents only got tickets for me and the two of them. I felt really bad that my bros and Nanay couldn't come with, but I'm not sure they'd all enjoy it anyway. And as divine intervention would have it, there were only three tickets available (for the balcony; that's all we can afford) and they were right next to each other; row B, seats 101, 103, and 105. I sat in seat 101 because it was the aisle seat (no crowdedness for me. YAY!!) The people in seats 107 and 109 were a Filipino mother and son from Stockton and were celebrating the son's b-day (also 911). And get this: The people sitting directly behind us were all family friends, though I only really knew one of them, my 'Tita' Pam. They were there celebrating 'Tita' Debbie's mom's b-day (another 911). I told my mom it was all an act of God in which we were all seated together. She laughed and agreed readily, me knowing full well she'd be telling the same thing to everyone every time she'd recall the outing.

Now to something actually regarding the musical:

Kendra Kassebaum is an awesome Glinda and Teal Wicks portrays Elphaba as such a strong, wonderful character (and has the Wicked Witch laugh down pat). I SO want to see it again, but alas, my budget does not allow. Maybe if I can get a group of friends to go with me before the SJSU discount runs out ...

Anyhoo, my parents also bought me the official Wicked program and the soundtrack of the original Broadway cast. I have to tell you straight, I personally prefer Kassebaum as Glinda. Why? Because when I was listening to the soundtrack, it sounded like Glinda was being portrayed as the token Golden Girl (if not a bit bossy), while Kassebaum portrays Glinda as a lovable ditzy blonde. Look at this: [link] How can you not love her? Why, yes. I AM bias. *sigh* I wish I could see all the productions of Wicked.

Oh! Just as a side note: Teal Wicks played Elphaba in the LA production of Wicked and Kendra Kassebaum played Glinda in the Broadway Production as well as the National Tour.

One more thing: HAPPY B-DAY ATE GABRIELLE!!

It's the 22 of July, thus making it the anniversary of when I started my Danny Phantom fanfic "Untitled Danny Phantom Fanfic," which I'm retitling as "Aka-Nami." It'll be a year tomorrow when I last uploaded a chapter to the story. My progress with the next chapter? About 5-10%. Why? Because no matter how many times I force myself to sit down and type, nothing comes. Yes, I do have severe writer's block.

I'm not a huge fan of Danny Phantom anymore, but I do like it, especially the 1st season, which inspired the story in the first place. Hopefully I'll come up with something good for the next chapter before the next anniversary rolls along.

Sorry to all of those who have been waiting for the next update.

HAPPY SINGLES AWARENESS DAY!!

I wish for happiness for all you couples out there and hope you have a great time celebrating this day of love.

For those (like me), who are single, I hope you have friends and family to gorge on chocolate and laugh at the sappy movie marathons on TV with.

To all my loved ones: GET ME CHOCOLATE!! Ahem! I mean ... HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! :D

Here are a bunch of quotes for you all:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."
~1 Corinthians 13:4

"You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love; the running across fields into your lover's arms can only come later when you're sure they won't laugh if you trip."
~Jonathan Carroll, "Outside the Dog Museum"

"Infatuation is when you think he's as sexy as Robert Redford, as smart as Henry Kissinger, as noble as Ralph Nader, as funny as Woody Allen, and as athletic as Jimmy Conners. Love is when you realize that he's as sexy as Woody Allen, as smart as Jimmy Connors, as funny as Ralph Nader, as athletic as Henry Kissinger and nothing like Robert Redford - but you'll take him anyway."
~Judith Viorst, Redbook, 1975

"Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction."
~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Wind, Sand and Stars, 1939, translated from French by Lewis Galantière

"Love - a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker."
~Unknown

"Love one another and you will be happy. It's as simple and as difficult as that."
~Michael Leunig

"If I love you, what business is it of yours?"
~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as the wind blows out the candle and fans the bonfire."
~François Duc de La Rochefoucauld

"Anyone can be passionate, but it takes real lovers to be silly."
~Rose Franken

"Love doesn't sit there like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all of the time, made new."
~Ursula K. LeGuin

"People who are sensible about love are incapable of it."
~Douglas Yates

"You know you're in love when you don't want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."
~Dr. Seuss

"We don't believe in rheumatism and true love until after the first attack."
~Marie Ebner Von Eschenbach, Aphorism

"True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked."
~Erich Segal

"Love is being stupid together."
~Paul Valery

"Before I met my husband, I'd never fallen in love. I'd stepped in it a few times."
~Rita Rudner

"I learned the real meaning of love. Love is absolute loyalty. People fade, looks fade, but loyalty never fades. You can depend so much on certain people, you can set your watch by them. And that's love, even if it doesn't seem very exciting."
~Sylvester Stallone

"Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable."
~Bruce Lee

"When you're attracted to someone it just means that your subconscious is attracted to their subconscious, subconsciously, so what we know as fate is two neuroses knowing that they're a perfect match."
~Jeff Arch, Nora Ephron, and David S. Ward, Sleepless in Seattle

"We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love."
~Tom Robbins

"Men love because they are afraid of themselves, afraid of the loneliness that lives in them, and need someone in whom they can lose themselves as smoke loses itself in the sky."
~V.F. Calverton

"The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved - loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves."
~Victor Hugo

"What the world really needs is more love and less paper work."
~Pearl Bailey

"We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person."
~W. Somerset Maugham

"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."
~Unknown

"Just because somebody doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have."
~Unknown

"If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?"
~Unknown

"Love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image... otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them."
~Unknown

"Love is not blind - it sees more, not less. But because it sees more, it is willing to see less."
~Julins Gordon

"It's so easy to fall in love but hard to find someone who will catch you."
~Unknown

"I don't wish to be everything to everyone, but I would like to be something to someone."
~Javan

"Falling in love is so hard on the knees."
~Aerosmith

"Like I've always said, love wouldn't be blind if the braille weren't so damned much fun."
~Armistead Maupin, Maybe the Moon

"In springtime, love is carried on the breeze. Watch out for flying passion or kisses whizzing by your head."
~Emma Racine deFleur

"[W]hen you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
~Nora Ephron, When Harry Met Sally

"Woman was taken out of man – not out of his head, to rule over him; nor out his feet, to be trampled under by him; but out of his side, to be equal to him – under his arm, that he might protect her; and near his heart, that he might love her."

Got tagged by my cousin :iconpombadguy: because I had to open my big mouth.

But really, I don't mind this kind of thing so long as it doesn't say "do this or something inexplicably bad will happen to you." I hate chain letters.

RULES:
1. Choose a few of your own characters. Five at the most.
2. Make them answer the following questions.
3. Then tag three people.
4. Feel free to go ahead and add some question yourself!!

Hmm ... Who to choose ... I think I'll pick Managi Koosurei from my original fantasy story "World of Newfound Destiny" from my Gaia series as well as Bridget "Jet" Thul (Mars) and Bridget "Birdie" Hashimoto (Earth) from my original story "Double Vision" of my Earth-Mars series.

Who/What are you?
Managi: Hello everyone. I'm Managi Koosurei, One of Blood as fortold by the blessed priestesses to become the savior of the planet Gaia.
Jet: I'm Briget "Jet" Thu. I am who the five-year-old Bridget Thul becomes after she and her father escape to Mars after her mother dies when their space colony is destroyed.
Birdie: Salutations. I am Bridget "Birdie" Hashimoto. I am who the five-year-old Bridget Thul becomes after she and her mother escape to Earth after her father dies when their space colony is destroyed.

WANT A HUG?
Managi: *backs away slowly* I don't even know you.
Jet: *raises an eyebrow* You want something, don't you?
Birdie: I would like one, but not right now and quite frankly, not from you.

You got any bad habits?
Managi: Bottling everything up until I break down.
Jet: I'm sure I have just as many as the next person.
Birdie: I know I have some, but I can't really recall at this moment.

Are you a boy or a girl?
Managi: I'm a girl.
Jet: I have two X chromosomes. You figure it out.
Birdie: Female.

Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Managi: None whatsoever.
Jet: No, but I do have this pain-in-the-neck Commander.
Birdie: Not really, though I was raised in the household of my maternal grandmother with several of my cousins.

Are you a virgin?
Managi: *blushes* W-what kind of question is that?! Of course I am!
Bridget: I don't think that's any of your business.

Think you could beat me in a contest of strength?
Managi: I don't think so. I'm not much of an athlete.
Jet: I'm not stupid enough to make bets on myself.
Birdie: I'm studying for my BAR exam and acting as a politicla associate. I thought it was obvious that I'm in no way, shape, or form "strong."

Whats your favorite food?
Managi: Plain raw cookie dough.
Jet: Food is food.
Birdie: I'm really fond of pasta.

Favorite band?
Managi: It's impossible to choose.
Jet: Music is distracting.
Birdie: I don't have a favorite band, but I do enjoy instrumental pieces.

Have you ever killed anyone?
Managi: No, but ... I'm going to have to.
Jet: Yes.
Birdie: No and I hope I never have to.

Do you like to destroy things?
Managi: Most definitely not.
Jet: What kind of things?
Birdie: No.

Do you love anyone?
Managi: Of course! My grandmother.
Jet: No.
Birdie: Yes. My family.

What is your job?
Managi: I'm just your average student.
Jet: Captain of the Martian Navy Specials Unit and immediate head of command.
Birdie: Chief secretary of the Earth Sphere High Council's Eastern Region 2nd Seat Senator Sakura Tsuno.

What do you do to relax?
Managi: Curl up in my bed and read.
Bridget: Take a nap.

There's a person who's teasing you, what would you do?
Managi: Tell them they're immature and walk away.
Jet: Ignore them.
Birdie: I would try to ignore them.

What kind of powers do you have?
Managi: Angelic powers really; healing, elemental, empathic, telekinetic, exorcism, etc. I just can't bring life to the inanimate like objects or dead people and the like.
Bridget: I don't have any powers.

What is your ultimate goal?
Managi: I guess to save the world of Gaia, not like I have a choice.
Bridget: My destiny is to rebuild the shattered "bridge" connecting the Earth and Mars spheres.

Favorite season?
Managi: Spring, because it rains the most during that time.
Jet: I have lived in controlled environments all my life, so I can't choose a favorite season if I never experienced any of them.
Bridget: I don't have a favorite season, but the transition from summer to autumn has always been my favorite time of the year.

Who's your best friend?
Managi: Romona "Rommy" King, my childhood friend.
Jet: I guess Olivia "Vera" Moniello. The woman was the only one I had after I lost my father in a shooting when I was 9.
Birdie: I don't believe I have one.

What is your greatest fear?
Managi: Never being able to go back home again.
Jet: Dying before I can ever step foot on Earth.
Birdie: I'm afraid of not somehow helping in ending the Earth-Mars war before I die.

Okay, thank you all for your time!
Managi: No problem!
Jet: I could have done something more productive.
Birdie: Well, it certainly killed some time.

Now I tag ... Well ... Anyone who wants to do this.
